What Hundred Stories is

It is a homage to SimTower, the 1994 tower sim, built from scratch. The rules follow that classic game, while the code and art are original. Hundred Stories is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Electronic Arts, Maxis, or OPeNBooK.

If you came looking for SimTower online or a game like SimTower, this is the closest thing we can offer: a new game made with a lot of love for the old one. It has no SimTower art, music or code in it, and it does not pretend to be that game.

What is the same

  • You start with an empty lot, a lobby and a little money, and your tower is cut open like a dollhouse so you can see everyone inside.
  • The rooms are the classic set: offices, condos, hotel rooms, shops and restaurants, and the rest, with the same ideas about who wants to live and work next to whom.
  • Elevators, stairs and escalators carry people, and the wait is what makes or breaks a tower.
  • Tenants get stressed by slow elevators, noise and dirty rooms, and they move out.
  • Your rating climbs from one star to TOWER, and each star opens new rooms.
  • Fires, bomb threats, VIP visits and other surprises can show up on any day.

B3

What is new

  • Stories. Every floor has one, and a story told in 100 short chapters unfolds as your tower grows.
  • Clips. Short films about the things that happen in every tower, like the elevator that is out and the VIP who finds a messy suite.
  • Offline play. Install it once from your browser and it works without the internet.
  • No ads, and no account needed. Your tower saves on your own device, and you can also save it to a file.
  • Made for touch as well as a mouse, so it plays on a phone or a tablet.
  • Today's tower, a shared daily challenge you can send to a friend.

The clips are on the clips page, and the rules are written out in How to play.

How to play it now

Open the game in your browser on a computer, a phone or a tablet. There is nothing to download and no account to make. It is free to start: the free game has every room and event up to 3 stars, in a tower up to 20 floors. One purchase in the app unlocks the full tower. There are no ads.

The app for iPhone and iPad is out now on the App Store, and an Android app comes after it: the same tower, made for the phone.
